Happy first day of fall, ya'll!
I'm celebrating by wearing a pretty dress, devouring some Dove milk chocolate caramels, and watercolor painting to Ben Rector (yes, I'm still playing that album that came out a month ago).
I don't think I truly appreciated the fall season until recent years; it was just the pre-Christmas season. Also, I feel like the color orange represents fall, and I was never a big fan of orange. But there is so much to do, so much to enjoy!
Things I love about fall:
1. Chai lattes.
I can finally drink a warm chai latte without sweating. There is nothing better than it being chilly outside with warm tea/coffee in hand. I feel so seasonal and hipster-y.
2. Cool weather.
Okay, so that doesn't roll around for us Louisianians until November, but the past few days have been cool in the morning so I've been pretending.
3. Cooler weather = sweater weather.
Fall and spring are my favorite outfit seasons: you're not freezing and you're not sweating. Break out the sweaters, scarves, and tights! And layering! I've missed layering so much. I've already made a (few) shopping trip(s) to update my fall wardrobe, and now I want to wear everything even though it's ridiculous to wear boots in 90 degree weather. But now that it's officially fall, I need to wear fall colored things which are all warmer pieces so what is a girl to do.
4. The leaves changing.
LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business |
Oh, campus is so beautiful in the fall when the leaves change color! It's a mess of red, orange, and yellow and I love it. The world is so scenic until everything curls up and dies for the winter.
5. Pumpkin patches.
If you can't get a cute picture in a pumpkin patch, I don't know where you can.
6. Corn mazes.
Okay, I've never actually done a corn maze, but it's on my list of fun things to do in the fall. UGH I wanna go do one right now!! Every time I think of a corn maze, I think of the movie Chicken Little, where they're running through a corn field trying to escape the UFO, and the chicken guy is like "What's that noise!?" and it's the giant pig guy gnawing on a piece of corn and it sounds like a lawnmower. Ha ha, oh wow I'm cracking up about it as I type.
7. Those holiday Pillsbury sugar cookies.
You know what I'm talking about. Those pre-made sugar cookies that have ghosts or pumpkins or Santa or Christmas trees printed on them? Yes, those. I have a legitimate addiction to those things. I already eat more cookies than the average person, and these are no exception.
8. Leaf piles!
Okay, back to the leaf changing thing, once all the colorful leaves fall off, you can rake 'em up and make a giant pile and jump in it! That's everything I ever did as a child and I regret not making a leaf pile last year and re-living my childhood memories.
9. Thanksgiving.
If you don't like Thanksgiving, then you don't like food and family; and I don't trust you.
10. Fall scents/flavors.
Now we can break out the apple cinnamon candles and pumpkin-flavored/scented anything and everything. Some people are so stressed about pumpkinizing everything, but I think it's hilarious. Does America really need Pumpkin Spice Oreos? Apparently we do.
Well, that's basically anything and everything I love about fall. Changing seasons is good. Just like the physical environmental earthly whatever seasons change, we change seasons of life. I love that.
Wow, so deep.
